This essay analyses the Italian political violence during the 1960s and 1970s, focusing on the effects the Cold War had in Italy and the United States’ attitude toward the Italian situation. The study primarily investigates the centrality, in that delicate political phase, of the year 1974, exploring the impact the Brescia massacre had and trying to illustrate the primary concerns of the American administration during that situation.
